The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County increased four-tenths of a cent Monday to $4.686, ending a streak of three consecutive years when it set a record high for a Labor Day.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped a half-cent Monday to $4.821, a day after it rose one-tenth of a cent.

Now, the state’s gas tax is 60 cents, whereas it was 58 cents from July 2023 to June 2024, according to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.

The average price in San Diego County has decreased 15.7 cents over the past 20 days.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Thursday for the 10th consecutive day and 13th time in 14 days, decreasing 1 cent to $5.29.

Gas prices have been steadily going up over the last couple of weeks.

San Diegans on average are paying 12 cents more a gallon compared to a month ago, according to AAA. That’s due in part to spring break travelers, as well as the summer blend fuel being used in Southern California.
