In 2005, after traveling the world, Switchfoot dreamed up an idea to give back to their hometown that supported them as both surfers and musicians, to rally their great community and to invest in kids who might need a hand up.

Thirteen years later, the festival has grown in impact and size. The Bro-Am Foundation focuses on initiatives in two areas that create a thriving future -- physical and community well-being along with opportunity and empowerment through music, art, surfing and education.

In a recent press release, the band's frontman Jon Foreman (pictured) said: "We are so honored that the local community would partner with us to host such a unique, inclusive, and meaningful event to help local kids in need. To see our hometown come together and help deserving kids is an incredible experience. Surfing, Music, and the San Diego scene at its best."

"They started singing harmonies and watched their voices blend into a beautiful three-part sound that elevated the songs and gave their Coastal Americana spirit a classic Crosby Stills Nash and Eagles-esque quality."

"So formed Jamtown, named after a tune of the same name that speaks of a place where everyone leaves their problems behind, grabs an instrument, and jumps into the jam."

Fueled by that spirit, the newly-formed trio then called upon their talented friends to come on down. Cody Dickinson of NMA, Duane Betts of Dawes, Citizen Cope, Uli bella of Ozo, and more dove in to bless the music.
