The alt-rock/rap/reggae band was in fine form during their Aug. 11 show -- part of a co-headlining tour with Dirty Heads and openers the Interrupters (look for their respective photos in a separate gallery coming soon to SoundDiego.com)!

Of course, 311 became prominent in the mid-to-late '90s with the hits "Down," "All Mixed Up" and "Come Original" (among others).

Part of their long-time appeal has been their eclectic sound and use of two vocalists -- Nick Hexum and Doug "SA" Martinez (pictured) -- who both have vastly different singing styles.

The group was originally founded in Omaha, Nebraska in 1988 by Hexum (pictured), bassist Aaron "P-Nut" Wills, drummer Chad Sexton and lead guitarist Jim Watson (who was replaced by Tim Mahoney in 1990). Martinez officially joined the group in 1992.

311 has released thirteen studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, four EPs and four DVDs. To-date, their self-titled 1995 album has sold more than 3 million copies and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. (P-Nut pictured)

Fun fact: On March 11, 2000, 311 began celebrating an unofficial holiday of their own creation, which they called 311 Day and schedule a special concert for their fans. (Hexum and P-Nut, right)
