California state officials have agreed to delay the effective date of what state lawmakers intended as a Jan. 1 ban on flavored tobacco products

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to take the next steps in banning the sale of flavored tobacco products and placing a moratorium on untested vaping devices in unincorporated areas of San Diego County.

The city of El Cajon will consider taking the first steps towards banning the sale of vaping products during their council session on Tuesday.

San Diego County leaders on Monday called for a ban on the sale of vaping devices and flavored tobacco products in unincorporated areas as lung-related illnesses rise across the nation.

Local leaders are set to announce proposals cracking down on vaping products. NBC 7’s Nicole Gomez has more.
