Hillcrest Hotel To Be Converted Into Luxury Apartments

San Diego-based company, SENTRE, dba Whitson Hillcrest, LLC, recently acquired an 80-room hotel in Hillcrest. The company plans to convert the property, located at 606 Washington Street near State Route 163, into luxury apartments “with a vintage flair.”

The property in Hillcrest was originally built in 1986 as an 81-unit apartment community before it turned into the Sommerset Suites Hotel in the mid-1990s.

SENTRE said the renovation efforts will cost more than $3 million and will include a new indoor-outdoor lounge and hotel-style pool and sun deck.

HFF represented both the buyer and seller in the transaction. SENTRE purchased the Sommerset Suites Hotel for $19.5 million, or $245,000 per unit.
