Hundreds of mourners gathered Friday to remember a friend and family member who was shot to death last week while working as supervisor at a Metropolitan Transit Service yard near downtown San Diego.

Transit foreman Benjamin Mwangi, 37, was killed last week by fellow worker Lonnie Glasco, 47, who was later shot to death by police. Glasco also killed a second victim, Michael Stevenson, a 55-year-old bus mechanic. Investigators have yet to determine a victim in the slayings.

As many as 300 showed up at Christian Church in Lemon Grove for the services for Mwangi that began at noon. A few dozen mourners -- including Mwangi's widow, Mary, and their 17- and 10-year-old daughters -- wore Chargers jerseys at the request of the family.

"His older brother, Clint, spoke about forgiveness, and praying for the family of the one who shot him ... what [Mwangi's relatives] said was, 'Moving on,' " Pastor David Skates said. "The wonderful Christian spirit that fills that family -- that's their heritage -- it's a spirit of forgiveness."

"I'm going to remember the good, the happy moments, the playful moments," said Sabena Njoroge, a close family friend. ""My family and I are really going to miss him.  He's a fine man who really had a big heart for people and always wanted to help, always out there.  Going out of his way to see that other people benefit, or were comfortable."

A friend of Glasco said Glasco had recently been despondent over losing his wife and his home.
