AUG. 13 - DOG DAYS OF SUMMER CONTEST: Do something fun and entertaining with your dog and bring them to the Dog Days of Summer Contest. The event will be held at 124 Aberdeen Dr. in Cardiff-by-the-Sea from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
AUG. 14 - CARLSBAD ART IN THE VILLAGE: More than 200 fine artists will be in the Carlsbad Village just two blocks from the Carlsbad State Beach. Art, crafts, food and live music make this event a must!
AUG. 14 - HILLCREST CITYFEST: The city of Hillcrest will host its annual CityFest summer event on Fifth Ave. Artists, dancing, games, food and a beer garden will all be there making this event fun.
AUG.20 - DANIEL TOSH: Comedian Daniel Tosh will be performing at the Copley Symphony Hall. Tickets start at $119 online.

AUG.20-21 - WORLD BODYSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS: More than 350 bodysurfers from around the globe will be completing at the World Bodysurfing Championships. The event is set to take place at the Oceanside Municipal Pier.

AUG.21 - SURF TOWN TRIATHLON & DUATHLON:: Swimmers, bikers and runners should check out the Surf Town Triathlon & Duathlon at the Imperial Beach Pier. The event kicks off at 7 a.m.
AUG.25 - SOUNDIEGO LIVE: SoundDiego is taking it's act on the road to the Soda Bar with a show featuring local artists New Mexico and Old Tiger. The free event kicks off at 7 p.m.
AUG.25-28 - JULIAN STARFEST: August's new moon weekend is going to play host to the Julian Starfest swap meet, drawing and a star gazing show. The General Public Star Party is the main event, and will take place at 1150 Julian Orchards Dr. Menghini Winery in Julian.
AUG. 27 - BONITAFEST KICK-OFF:: Don't miss the Bonitafest Kick-Off at the Bonita Golf Course. A festive banquet, live music, dancing and auctions will take place to raise money for Bonita's September Bonitafest.

AUG.27 - SOLANA BEACH BLANKET MOVIE NIGHT: From 6 p.m. to 10, Flecher Cover Park will tuner into a cozy movie theater for the 7th annual Beach Blanket Movie Night. Along with your blanket, you should pack a picnic and a chair before heading out.
Each Saturday - IMAX MOVIES IN BALBOA PARK:: The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park shows IMAX films daily. At 10 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday you can get an early bird special admission for $8.50 along with complimentary admission to all art galleries.
AUG.28 - LEUCADIA ARTWALK: For over mile, artist will line Highway 101 with works of all kinds for the LeucadiART Walk. The free event runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and includes live music, fun for the kids a beer and wine garden and more.

AUG.28 - BIKE ON THE BAY: Join in on a community bike ride for the Bike on the Bay event. Organizers said this isn't a race, but a "fun ride" that everyone can enjoy. Last year more than 2,700 riders turned out to show support. For more information check out the event's website.
