While they're still pumping out great music (four new albums since 2009), the Pumpkins originally hit it big in the early '90s. Their debut 1991 LP, "Gish," put 'em on the map but they truly achieved widespread mainstream success with their 1993 record "Siamese Dream."

The album debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S. alone.

However, their 1995 third studio album, the massive 28-song double album "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" took them to even greater heights: It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard, was certified more than 10 times platinum, and became the best-selling double album of the decade. (Iha pictured)

It also garnered the group seven Grammy Awards in 1997, including Album of the Year. They'd go on to win one, for Best Hard Rock Performance (for "Bullet with Butterfly Wings"). (Bates pictured)
