FBI agents have accused a San Diego man of taking lewd photos of young girls. NBC 7 reporter Nicole Gonzales talked to his neighbor Rica Kennedy about living next door to an accused sex offender.
FBI agents arrested a San Diego man accused of taking pictures and video with young naked girls.
He worked as a physician's assistant at the Naval Medical Center in Balboa Park
“It's tragic, repulsive, and I think would make most people sick to their stomach,” FBI Spokesperson April Langwell said.
Federal agents say 38-year-old Brandon Schroth is seen in digital files touching minors.
“They’re staged on a mattress in a bed. There were video depictions of him in a bathtub naked with two pre-pubescent girls,” Langwell said. “Very young 8 to 9 year-old girls. There is no doubt they are engaging in child pornography.”
He once worked as a physician's assistant at the Commander, Naval Air Forces.
Rica Kennedy lived next door to Schroth for a year and a half, until he moved out of the Mission Valley apartment last month.
“I was shocked because he's in the military and I think he works at the hospital. I hope he's not...I'm just shocked,” Kennedy said. “That's scary. Especially here at this complex, there are a lot of kids here.”
Schroth is being charged with two counts of child sex exploitation. His detention hearing is set for March 8.
Editor's note: We originally reported that Schroth worked at the Naval Medical Center in Balboa Park, instead of Commander, Naval Air Forces. NBC regrets the error.
