A man accused of killing a Border Patrol agent is extradited to the U.S.
Mexico extradited Jesus Navarro-Montes to face charges he killed Luis Aguilar by hitting him with a drug-loaded Hummer H2.
Navarro-Montes arrived Thursday in Houston and will be moved to Southern California in the next few days, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in San Diego. The United States sought extradition after Mexican authorities arrested Navarro-Montes near the resort town of Zihuatenejo last February.
Aguilar died from injuries he suffered when he was struck in southeastern California's Imperial Sand Dunes in January 2008.
Navarro-Montes faces a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted of second-degree murder, according to prosecutors, who will present thier case in San Diego federal court. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years if convicted of narcotics charges.
