Accused Molester Caught In Brazil

Jared Yaffe, 30, was arrested at a hotel in Rio De Janeiro.

After months on the run, a San Diego man accused of sex crimes against children, has been caught in Brazil.

Jared Yaffe, 30, was arrested at a hotel in Rio De Janeiro on Monday, according to the U.S. Marshals Service

Yaffe is accused of paying an East County  babysitter named Aaron Zendejas, to provide children for him.  Police say Yaffe would molest the children and take pictures and videos of them before selling the images on the Internet.

Last October, after police started to close in on Yaffe, he disappeared.

"He was on the lam, so to speak," Agent George Venables said. U.S. Marshals tracked Yaffe from North Carolina to Frankfurt, Germany.

"He went to Romania for a short time and then to Brazil in late March," Agent Venables said.  It was in Brazil where state agents and local police arrested Yaffe at a hotel.

Agents say Brazilian police accused Yaffe of preying on children in their country as well.

No charges were filed against Yaffe and he was deported to the United States.  He arrived in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday where he is awaiting an extradition hearing.

Yaffe could be brought back to San Diego as early as this weekend.
