Female Bicyclist Struck in Mission Bay Park

A 20-year-old female bicyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries early Sunday morning after she was struck while riding in Mission Bay Park, according to San Diego police.

The accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. when the female was riding her bike southbound on 2500 Ingram St., in the middle of a traffic lane, said Sgt. R. Rose of SDPD.

A male driver of a sedan nearby the woman reportedly swerved into the left lane when he saw her.

The driver was too late and struck the female bicyclist, Rose said.

The woman was later transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The SDPD Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
