The “raw talent” of a local high school senior is about to propel him into the national spotlight and give him an opportunity to develop his already incredible skills.
Senior Collin Jones has been sidelined from El Camino High School’s varsity football team this season, because of a knee injury, the North County Times reported. But he’s still getting all the attention.
Jones is about to star on a new reality show about eight quarterbacks competing for a spot in the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
"Collin is a stand-up guy," Coach Pulu Poumele said. "He's a great guy to be an example and represent the community here."
Jones and the producers of the show were tight lipped about how far he went in the process, but Jones said he learned a lot of things through the program that helped make him a better quarterback, the paper reported.
"The coaches there, they just knew so much about this one position," he said. "It just opened my eyes to a bunch of things."
The show follows a "gradual elimination" format. It will begin its 10-week run Thursday night on Fox Sports Network's Prime Ticket.
