San Diego police are searching for a wanted assault suspect in Downtown San Diego, originally thought to be holed up in an apartment.
The incident unfolded Monday afternoon around 4 p.m. when police responded to a call of a possible assault in the 500 block of Laurel Street.
In a car, the suspect chased the victim, who was also driving a car, all over downtown. Eventually, the suspect crashed into the victim's car on Laurel Street.
In a parking lot on Laurel Street, next to an apartment complex, the wanted suspect pointed a gun at the victim and threatened him.
The suspect left the car at the scene; when police ran the plates, the car came back as stolen.
Meanwhile, the suspect went back to his apartment.
From the time he was seen in the area from the time police arrived, he left, officers said.
The suspect is believed to be armed, though police think this is an isolated incident. The victim and suspect knew each other.
No other information was available.
