Heavy Fog Causes Flight Cancellations at Lindbergh Field

Travelers are finding delays at San Dieg International Airport

Heavy fog rolled into Coronado Tuesday night, causing flight delays and cancellations at San Diego International Airport.

At least 75 flights going in and out of San Diego were canceled and 37 were delayed, according to FlightStats.com. Around 29 flights were diverted to LAX and Ontario.

A spokesperson for Lindbergh Field said they are encouraging travelers to check their flight status in advance to avoid any surprise cancellations or delays.

Delta Airlines told NBC 7 there were no cancellations but there may be delays for passengers departing Wednesday morning.

Southwest Airlines had more than a dozen cancellations Wednesday morning. The airline is calling for a travel advisory which would allow travelers to rebook up to 14 days without change fees or get travel credit for future date.

One person didn't find out about the delay until she was on the shuttle heading to the terminal.

"We’re going back to Boston. So canceled, I don’t know what that means. We may find another flight. We may spend another day here,” said traveler Meghan Hall.

A Delta spokesperson said many of the delays for Wednesday morning travelers are the result of planes not being able to fly in Tuesday night.
