Dust off your pocket book, tax season is over and it's time to splurge a little. North County Yelp is ready to show you how it's done! (The largest category of reviewed businesses on Yelp isn’t actually restaurants -- it’s shopping.)
Streets and districts of savvy shops are located throughout the region, read on for the best places to buy local.
Flower Hill Promenade
Newly remodeled and boy does that facelift look good! Just drag yourself away from the new Whole Foods and explore the re-opened shops. You won’t have to stretch to find yoga gear at Core Power (retail therapy after class!), fine cigars at Liberty Tobacco or cheeses and gifts at Venissimo. Have local shop owner’s help you pick out the perfect present or décor, maybe a new outfit or trinket from Fairen Del or Bon Bijoux Girly Boutique? The list goes on… as does the new parking structure in back!
South Cedros Design District
You’ll find the treasures of the world at your fingertips in this famous design district with a stop at the David Allen Collection, and check out Solo next door for the perfect finishing touch. Château already très chic? Explore many retailers under one roof at Leaping Lotus, snag an outdoor rug from Chicweed or treat your pup at Muttropolis. Fashionistas unite at Pink Lagoon, and that perfect hat (and matching bow tie!) for the Del Mar races can be custom made just for you at the Jill Courtemanche Millinery.
Temecula’s Old Town Main Street is a destination worth the trip; just make sure you clear that trunk space. Dig through the fabulous finds at Granny's Attic or stop in for a taste and pick up some bottles for your collection at Lorimar Winery, it's just off the main drag. Find the perfect weekend outfit at Ms Chievious Boutique and indulge your inner carnivore with a stop at the House Of Jerky, (ostrich and buffalo and boars, oh my!) For you adventurers our there? There's a new kid on the block: The Secret BMX Shop.
Main Street Encinitas
Historic Highway 101
This neighborhood has something for everyone! Hansen’s makes its home here for all your surf needs, and you can easily go so wrong it's right at Flashbacks Recycled Fashion just down the street. Cozy up your castle with items from Gardenology or Bliss 101. Fashionable fiends can be found at UNIV and Mog & Rue, and for those that prefer spandex? Nytro Multisport has you covered.
Carlsbad Village & Carlsbad Village Faire
Parking is free in rad C-Bad, so you can spend all your extra cash in the village streets and Faire shopping center. Beware; it's a fashion hunter’s goldmine. A girl could really strut her stuff with a trip to these runway worthy shops, and on a budget too! Yelp Search found Rags Dressware, Virtu Boutique, Intriguing, and the newly opened Cielo Boutique location. If shoes and skirts aren’t your bag baby, head to Spin Records for some vinyl or pamper your pooch with a visit to Cold Nose Warm Heart.
