A brazen and random attack on a woman while she was walking down a street in El Cajon with her boyfriend has flipped her world upside down.
As they were walking, the couple was hit with several eggs around midnight on March 19, but that wasn't the end of it.
Katelyn McConnaughey, 21, told NBC 7 the incident has changed her life over the last couple of weeks.
"I've been in pain every single day and every single night," she said.
McConnaughey and her boyfriend were enjoying a walk that night when a silver older-model SUV pulled up and four girls, thought to be in their late teens, started throwing eggs at them.
The couple kept walking but the SUV came back a few blocks later, doing much more damage than just pelting eggs.
"I can't drive. I can't go out for a walk. I can't skateboard. I can't run or hike. I can't do any of the things I love," McConnaughey said, fighting back tears.

Now, McConnaughey spends her days confined to a wheelchair.
She said the SUV struck her and most likely ran over her foot. The swelling caused severe nerve damage that threatened amputation.
"Right now, I can't feel some of my toes. We don't know if that's going to be permanent," she told NBC 7.
McConnaughey's boyfriend was dragged down the street after holding on to the SUV, trying make it stop. Now, all the couple is left with is the destructive aftermath of an innocent evening walk gone terribly wrong.
"I try not to think about it, but I know that someone needs to come forward. Because that's the right thing to do," she said with tears running down for face.
An online fundraiser has been set up to help cover the costs of medical expenses.
Detectives are treating this incident as an attack with a deadly weapon.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
