SDSU's Peres Named MW Player of the Week

Aztecs sophomore hit 3 homers last week

San Diego State softball player Jenavee Peres is the Mountain West Conference "Player of the Week."

The Aztecs catcher batted .571 with three homers, 8 runs batted in and scored 9 runs during a five game stretch this past week.

Peres recently missed nine games with an injury before returning for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

She crushed a pair of two-run homers in a 5-4 loss to Cal State Northridge on Saturday.

The SDSU sophomore also posted a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.347 slugging mark last week, helping the Aztecs go 3-2 during that time.

On the season Peres is batting .625 with four homers, 10 RBIs, and 12 runs in just six games.

She leads SDSU in batting average, runs, home runs, slugging percentage and on-base percentage this season.

Last year, Peres was the MW Freshman of the Year, a first-team all-MW selection and a second-team NFCA all-West Region pick. She also played on the USA Junior Women’s National Team.

San Diego State co-hosts the San Diego Classic this weekend and faces No. 16/14 Texas A&M at 7 p.m (PT) this Friday.
