Oceanside police are investigating a homicide at 212 Windward Way

Oceanside police are investigating a homicide at a construction site.

An employee found the body of a man inside a trailer at the site on Windward Way, just after 5 a.m. Thursday. The location is two blocks east of The Strand, north of Surfrider Way.

A thin trail of blood was found inside and outside a trailer on the job site, police said. Investigators could not say how the man was killed.

Oceanside police identified the man as 37 years old. They have not released his name pending notification of next of kin.

The man was from Hesperia, Calif. and worked as a plumber at the job site, according to someone working at a nearby construction project.

He also told NBC 7 the plumber was found inside a trailer on the job site “in a puddle of blood.”

Officers have most of the area blocked off for their investigation and are waiting for the arrival of the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

There are normally several people at the location during the week, according to police, including a security guard and two other employees. Police said it’s not clear where those employees were overnight.

No other information was available.
