The news comes 11 days after Ellis asked for and was granted a release from Duke.
According to 247Sports Ellis visited Oregon over the weekend, following a trip to Memphis.
"Just the opportunity to learn from Penny at the point guard spot, and be able to show me first hand on how to be a point guard," Ellis told 247Sports. "And the opportunity to come and play right away with some great pieces."
