Imperial Beach Woman Wakes Up to Stranger Touching Her: SDSO

An Imperial Beach woman called 911 after she woke up in her home Tuesday morning to a stranger touching her, San Diego deputies said.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Sexual Assault Unit is investigating the alleged sexual battery on the 1300 block of Hemlock Avenue near 13th Street. The incident occurred at around 5 a.m.

The woman told deputies the suspect fled from her home and she immediately called 911.

Investigators believe the suspect entered the home by removing the screen on an open bedroom window.

Neighbors told NBC 7 after hearing about the alleged battery, they're taking extra steps to make sure something like this doesn't happen to them.

"I bought a portable A/C for the same reason so my windows aren't completely open," Dula Gomez said.

Gomez said her neighborhood is safe and not known for this type of brazen crime, but admitted anything can happen anywhere.

Neighbor Michael Watson told NBC 7 he's planning on investing in a baseball bat.
