Three Victims Shot in Lemon Grove

Sheriffs said the victims appeared to be at a small house party when the shooting occurred

Three victims were wounded during a shooting in Lemon Grove just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to sheriffs, the gunfire took place in front of a residence located at 3105 Massachusetts Ave.

The initial emergency call only reported that one man had been shot in the stomach near the intersection of Massachusetts Ave. and Central Ave. One minute later, the call confirmed that a second victim had also been shot in the leg.

Sheriffs said witnesses reported seeing several men running from the scene after the shots were fired. When deputies arrived, they found shell casings in the driveway of the residence.

Both victims were transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

About 45 minutes after the first call, a third gunshot victim was found near the driveway of the house. That man suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg, according to investigators. He was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

Sheriffs said this shooting does not appear to be gang-related. After investigating the crime scene, authorities believe the victims were part of a small gathering at the Lemon Grove residence which carried over from an earlier gathering at Chicano Park.

The injuries sustained by all three victims appeared to be non-life threatening.

No further information has been released regarding the potential suspects of this shooting.
