Driver Borrowed Car Moments Before Pursuit

A family member borrowed the car just moments before the pursuit.

The driver involved in a high-speed pursuit overnight may have gotten away on foot but officials say they know who he is and will track him down.

San Diego County sheriff’s deputies tried to stop a Saturn on E. Bradley Avenue in unincorporated El Cajon just after midnight Tuesday.

Deputies said the car was driving erratically. Once they tried to pull the driver over, he sped off and they began a pursuit deputies said.

Just minutes later, after a distance of only one or two miles, the Saturn collided into a parked car in a driveway on Flint Street.

After the driver took off on foot, deputies set up a search area but failed to locate him.

Once the registered owner of the Saturn was contacted, deputies discovered the name of the man behind the wheel.

Apparently the owner’s family member borrowed the car just moments before the pursuit.
