Make it a November to remember! It's the month of thanks and giving! I am thankful for all of our talented local musicians, keep up the good work. As for the fans and regular concert-goers -- take a friend, introduce them to your favorite local band, favorite venue, favorite drink, get away from the screen and get into life! We need more social interaction than ever before, people are easily getting stuck into the walls they build around them; let loose and let's rock! See below for a guide to some of my favorite shows going on in town this month.
Nov. 1: Cloud Nothings at the Casbah. Dylan Baldi is the band, he is from Cleveland and has worked with San Diego's own Wavves. His new album is amazeballs! (Check out the SoundDiego interview with him here)
Nov. 2: The Selecter at the Casbah. Two-tone ska legends from the U.K. -- pick it up, pick it up, pick it up! As my friend Mark used to say, "Play ska geek."
Nov. 3: Dia de los Deftones at Petco Park with Deftones, Future, Mike Shinoda, Rocket from the Crypt, Ho99o9, Doja Cat, Veins and Vowws. This lineup is superfly, curated by Deftones, and is the inaugural edition of the fest, right here in San Diego. Don't you feel lucky?
Nov. 4: CKY and Nekrogoblikon at Brick By Brick. The brother of Bam Margera (of "Jackass" and "Viva La Bam" fame) is the drummer in CKY and Nekrogoblikon has a goblin in their band, go see for yourself.
Nov. 5: Little Heroine, the Petty Saints and Bruised Fruit at the Casbah. Support local music, a Loudspeaker 30 Presents show.
Nov. 6: Keuning and the Nervous Wreckords at the Casbah. Keuning is the lead guitarist of the Killers, and his first name is Dave. The opening band features San Diego's Brian Karscig (of Louis XIV), who -- surprise! -- has even toured as a member of the Killers.

Nov. 7: Lucero and Strand of Oaks at the Observatory North Park. Indie, country, punk, Americana; boom, all that.
Nov. 8: Film School and the Color Forty Nine at the Whistle Stop. Shoegaze, dream-pop and haunting-border-vibe music from the opener.
Nov. 9: Kyle Craft at Soda Bar. He's on Sub Pop Records and some people buy anything that label does, because it's always good. Duh.
Nov. 10: Morrissey and Starcrawler at Copley Symphony Hall. No meat shall be served!
Nov. 11: Sugar Candy Mountain at Soda Bar. Space-psych rock!
Nov. 12: Ghost at Spreckels Theatre. You have been summoned to (metal) church.
Nov. 13: The Black Lips, Iceage and Surfbort at the House of Blues. Triple-threat bill; it's a right, left and uppercut of epic proportions.
Nov. 14: Todd Rundgren at the Belly Up. He produced the New York Dolls' 1973 self-titled album, among other things.
Nov. 15: Shane Hall, Well Well Well and Boychick at the Casbah. Support local music, a Loudspeaker 30 Presents show (and full disclosure, I booked it).
Nov. 16: Tokyo Police Club at the Casbah. Great indie-alternative band from Canada with an angular and slightly post-punk sound.
Nov. 17: This Will Destroy You at Brick by Brick. Epic instrumental rock from Texas that touches on shoegaze and doom metal.
Nov. 18: Joywave and Sir Sly at the Observatory North Park. Great double bill of indie-electro bands.
Nov. 19: Steady Holiday at the Casbah. Solo artist that has played a little festival called Coachella.
Nov. 20: Ian Sweet and Young Jesus at Soda Bar. Ian Sweet is a band, not a person and Young Jesus can't save you, but they did meet at an Anderson's Pea Soup restaurant.
Nov. 21: Booty Basement at the Casbah -- shake that ass, show me what you're working with! It's a dance party!
Nov. 22: Happy Thanksgiving!
Nov. 23: The Schizophonics, the Loons, the Widows and Salt Lick at the Casbah. If you haven't seen the Schizophonics by now, then you have a lot of living to do!
Nov. 24: Cat Power at the Observatory North Park. Chan Marshall is Cat Power and her shows are simply transformative.
Nov. 25: Municipal Waste at Brick by Brick. Legendary thrash metal band from Richmond, Virginia.
Nov. 26: Do people even go out on the Monday after a long holiday weekend? I suppose if your favorite band was playing, but I don't think they are, so stay home and think of sugarplum fairies.
Nov. 27: How to Dress Well at the Casbah. Another artist performing under a moniker that performs lo-fi R&B with a haunting vibe.
Nov. 28: Pocket Hole, Downers and Daytrip at the Casbah. Support local music, another Loudspeaker 30 Presents show.
Nov. 29: Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus at the Observatory North Park. Technically, it's their supergroup boygenius.
Nov. 30: El Ten Eleven and Tennis System at the Casbah. The former is a post-rock duo featuring Kristian Dunn (formerly of Inch and the Incredible Moses Leroy).
