Driver Strikes Police Car, Attempts to Flee

Police believe the female driver was under the influence of alcohol

A woman driving in Point Loma Friday night hit a marked SDPD patrol car with her vehicle and then fled, driving to Old Town San Diego before pulling over for police.

The hit and run incident happened around 9 p.m. at near Nimitz Boulevard.

After the driver struck the police car, she allegedly did not stop and continued driving all the way to

the Taylor Street off-ramp on Interstate 8.

An officer followed the woman and attempted to pull her over.

The driver finally stopped at the park and ride stop on Taylor Street, police said.

Police believe alcohol played a factor in the hit and run collision.

The woman was given a field sobriety test and arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The SDPD patrol car sustained some damage to the right side of the front bumper, but the officer in the car was not injured.
