18-Year-Old Bites, Punches Potential Kidnappers to Get Away: Deputies

The suspects wore black shirts featuring a gray upside-down triangle logo, possibly from some sort of local company

A woman in Encinitas bit and punched three men who were allegedly attempting to kidnap and rape her Monday afternoon, she told authorities with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. 

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department responded to the 700 block of Saxony Road in Encinitas when they were informed of the potential kidnapping.

The 18-year-old victim told deputies that three men who she did not know approached her in a truck near the YMCA on Saxony Road.

A thin, young man, possibly a juvenile, pulled the victim into the car with the two other suspects. 

While in the vehicle, the suspects allegedly attempted to rape the victim, a spokesperson with the department said. 

At that point, the victim said she bit one suspect on the ear and punched one of the suspects in the face in order to get away. She ran to a residence nearby and someone called 911 for her.

She was not injured or taken to the hospital. 

Authorities said the suspects were all wearing black tops, blue pants and hats. At least two of the suspects wore black shirts with a gray logo of an upside-down triangle on the front accompanied by unknown writing, officials said.

Investigators believe the design and logo on the suspects' shirts could provide vital clues about the suspects' identities.

"We're hoping that someone from the public can help identify this logo because additionally there was writing and we believe it may be a company-related shirt," explained Sgt. Clayton Lisk with the San Diego Sheriff's Department.y be a company related shirt.

Investigators said the driver was a heavy-set man about 30 to 40 years old. The other passenger was a thin man about 25 to 35 years old. 

They were driving a black small compact pickup truck with orange horizontal stripes toward the top of the fenders that ran the length of the truck and possibly an orange hood.  The back of the truck was filled with gardening equipment.

“Lawnmowers, shovels, rakes -- stuff along those lines,” added Sgt. Lisk.

The Sheriff's Department is calling local hospitals to find out if any men matching the description have been treated for an ear injury. 

The three suspects may face charges of kidnapping and attempted rape.
