Like anyone else, certain show announcements get me really excited. One of those shows is on Wednesday, when Chvrches return to San Diego with their first show at the Observatory North Park. It's not just that the band's sophomore album, "Every Open Eye," is fantastic indie-pop perfection, but singer Lauren Mayberry has proven to be an outspoken advocate and role model for women everywhere. The show is sold out but rumor is that there might be a handful of tickets at the box office if you get there early enough. Meanwhile, another sold-out Coachella act, Lord Huron, returns to town with a show at the Belly Up. At the Casbah, a mini-residency that for some reason was cancelled last week takes place (Spencer Moody of Murder City Devils), and Patrick Sweany appears at Soda Bar.
