Johnson (pictured) and Schifino met while studying at Pratt Institute. The two began dating and moved in together after three months. After they graduated, Matt started to play keyboard while Kim took on the drums.

Despite never playing music before, they were encouraged by friends and fellow Pratt Institute alumni to start playing shows.

Their self-titled debut album was released in October of 2006, and led to appearances at Lollapalooza and the Siren Music Festival in 2007.

In 2009, they released "Grand" and hit it big with the single "Daylight." The song would go on to be featured in numerous commercials and TV shows.

In 2010, the released their third studio album "Sidewalks," which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. Their "Lightning" album followed two years later and featured the leadoff single "Let's Go."

Matt and Kim's fifth studio album, "New Glow," was released in 2015 with four singles "Get It," "Hey Now," "Hoodie On," and "Can You Blame Me."

Their latest studio full-length, "Almost Everyday," and was released on May 4, 2018.
