International Stars Descend on Little Italy

International stars play the Stellar Sounds Open Air Concert Series to benefit Convivio and the Washington Elementary School Foundation

There's a big Italian community in San Diego, and hopefully, that comes as no surprise given our thriving and bustling Little Italy. San Diego-based Italian arts and culture organization Convivio is making sure of it with the Stellar Sounds Open Air Concert Series.

The series will feature international music stars Patrizio Buanne and Gino Vannelli performing at Amici Park in Little Italy on Sept. 21 and Oct. 11, respectively.

Proceeds from the concerts will go to benefit both Convivio and also the Washington Elementary School Foundation.

According to their website, "Convivio is a celebration of community, a feast for the spirit, a plea for the resurgence of social capital, at once exemplifying the best of an Italian cultural sensibility while exploring multicultural connections in the arts and humanities."

The Washington Elementary School Foundation, meanwhile, promotes local community and culture in Little Italy while enhancing and expanding the educational program at the Washington S.T.E.A.M. Magnet School.
