Pads Win, Still a Half Game Back

The Padres and Giants both won. So no change to the top of the standings in the NL West. Padres stay a half game back.

They got a strong effort from Clayton Richard to beat the Dodgers 6-0.

Ryan Ludwig drove in the first two runs with the base hit off Chad Billingsley in the third inning. Ludwig finished with four RBI's.
The Padres got three more runs in the 5th. They loaded the bases in typical Padres fashion: a base hit, a hit batter and an intentional walk to Adrian Gonzalez.

Then Ludwig was hit with a pitch to force in a run. They got another run on a sac fly. Buddy Ball at its best.

Richard lasted only three innings his last time out, giving up eight runs on 11 hits. He was solid, working out of a couple jams early, then getting the double play to end the ballgame.

His first career shut out. He was all smiles afterwards. His record now 13-8.

Tim Stauffer goes Wednesday against Ted Lilly.
