An Emerald Hills family is in shock and disbelief after a large delivery truck crashed into their home Monday afternoon, marking the third such event in the 30 years they have lived in their home.
"About four days ago, some driver came and plowed my dad’s down and maybe like 15 years ago, the same thing — drunk driver came down the hill and plowed into our front yard as well. So this is about the third time this has happened," Adriana Carrero said.
Carrero and her family have lived in their home in the 5400 block of Lenox Drive, between Winston Drive and Beverly Street, for decades.
At approximately 2:47 p.m. Monday, a truck was delivering furniture to a house above the family's home on the hill.
Carrero said that once the driver got out, the brakes gave way and the truck began rolling down a steep hill, crashing into the retaining wall in front of the family's home.
"My mom heard the noise and through the window; she could see the truck coming towards her and it freaked her out a bit, understandably," Carrero said.

The truck slammed into the home's retaining wall, which held the truck from the rest of the house and the gas line.
Carrero said the wall sustained most of the damage and protected their home, but it was still a scary situation. She said her mom wants to build a bigger wall now.
"This is the closest we’ve gotten to being truly dangerous," Carrero told NBC 7.
