Fire crews put out a blaze just outside the Harbor House in Seaport Village early Saturday morning, which caused $50,000 worth of damage to the building.

The fire broke out just after 4 a.m. in an utility area just outside the restaurant, said Maurice Luque, an official with the San Diego Fire Department.

The flames charred the exterior of the building and along with damage to the property caused $2,000 worth of damages to the contents of the area which included objects like refrigerators, said Luque.

Approximately 24 firefighters in four engines and two trucks responded to the blaze. "It was a pretty small fire" said Luque " they had it out in about seven minutes."

The restaurant has yet to open its doors, but an employee at the front desk told NBCSanDiego that they planned to open "within an hour or so" just before 2 p.m. Saturday. He went on to say that they were just waiting to get the go ahead to do so.

No employees were in or near the building at the time of the fire, said Luque and investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
