Despite expecting a wet New Year’s Eve this year, most San Diegans are sticking to their plans.
Derek and Shelly Ren are planning to celebrate at the Hotel del Coronado.
“It's our first black tie event,” Derek says. “I'm in a tux and she’s in a gown so we've been worried about [the rain], but we're going to take a cab from the door of the hotel to the Del and hopefully the same back.”
Diane Jackson and Markus Schulteis say they’re heading to the Marriot.
“We’re gonna be the first ones hit with the rain,” Markus says.
But others would rather not deal with the crowds, rain and lines at all.
“Cause it may rain, people get a little crazy on New Year’s, so I’d rather just celebrate it inside this year,” Shay Goree tells NBC 7.

Diane Jackson has a different way to deal with the weather.
“Have a drink, [it’ll] keep you warm,” she jokes. “After a couple of drinks you're going to look fabulous regardless."
As for her plans, Shelly Ren says she’s got it covered – with her umbrella.
Rain is expected throughout the night, and a winter advisory, with two to four inches of snow possible, is in effect for the mountains until 6 a.m. Sunday.
