A 28-year old San Diego man is facing lewd acts upon a child charges after his wife called law enforcement.
Eduardo Martinez Cruz was arrested late Thursday night.
Early Thursday morning, sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a missing 13-year-old girl. By the time they arrived the girl had returned home. But sheriffs deputies said after talking with the girl, they found out she had snuck out to see her older “boyfriend.”
Deputies said the man, later identified as Cruz, had provided her with a cell phone and would call and message her to arrange late night “rendezvous.” They said during these rendezvous, the two participated in numerous sexual acts.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Child Abuse unit was called in to examine the girl.
Thursday night, San Marcos sheriff's units received a call from a woman stating she believed her husband was the suspect in a child rape case. She said she thought her husband might flee to Mexico, so she covertly called the sheriff’s department before he could leave. When deputies arrived, they arrested Cruz on suspicion of lewd acts upon a child.
Cruz is not listed on the sheriff's Who's in Jail Web site. There’s no word on when he is expected to appear in court.
