Pedestrian Dies After Becoming Trapped Under Car in Chula Vista

A pedestrian died after becoming pinned under a vehicle in Chula Vista Friday.

Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) officers responded just after 6:00 p.m Friday to the 700 block of F Street, where a woman was trapped under a vehicle.

The unidentified woman had attempted to cross F Street, not using a crosswalk and tripped in the roadway. Seconds later, she was struck by a car traveling westbound, CVPD said. The driver stopped and the woman became pegged underneath the car.

According to a CVPD officer, the woman was trapped under the vehicle for "some time."

The woman became unconscious and unresponsive.

Medics transferred her to UC San Diego Medical Center but she later succumbed to her injuries. She was declared dead at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle is not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.

CVPD Traffic Collision detectives remain on scene to conduct an investigation into what happened for hours. An investigation is ongoing.
