Fallen Electrical Line Leaves Nearly 5,000 Without Power in Chula Vista

Fallen electrical wires left nearly 5,000 customers without power in the Chula Vista area Thursday, San Diego Gas and Electric confirmed.

Video sent to NBC 7 by viewer Miguel Duarte-Arellano showed live wires sparking on the rain-soaked ground on E. Oneida Street.

The outage began at around 8:15 p.m. after an afternoon of rain, according to SDG&E.

It was not determined what caused the wires to go down.

Customers in Chula Vista, Castle Park and Otay Mesa were affected. By 9:15 p.m., the utility said less than 20 customers were without power.

SDG&E estimated full power was restored at 11 p.m.
