Meth Ring Suspects Appear in Court

Three people accused of funneling drugs through a summer camp appeared in court Monday.

Spencer Edmonds, Joe Bean, 52, and Vincente Garcia, 41, each pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and transporting a controlled substance.

Mission Bay Sports Center owner Jason Boone, 40, and several others were arrested last week after a year-long drug investigation called β€œOperation Boone’s Farm.” Boone and two others, Susie Macias and Michael Gifford, 41, pleaded not guilty during court appearances last Friday.

The beach business rents water sports equipment and runs a popular summer camp. But prosecutors said it was also the center of a sophisticated drug ring. According to officials, they discovered methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana and prescription pills during a raid at the business last Thursday. They also found $48,000 in cash, a bullet proof vest and a loaded .22 handgun.

If convicted, the suspects face between 16 months and 10 years in prison.

A preliminary hearing for Edmonds, Bean and Garcia is scheduled for June 20th.
