Look Up: It's The Parade Of Flight

Celebrating 100 years of Naval Aviation History.

The Navy is celebrating 100 years of aviation history.

Naval Air Station North Island is expecting 50,000 visitors Saturday, who will check out modern and vintage aircraft and tour ships and aircraft carriers.

Many of the displays show the evolution of technology over the last 100 years.

The marquis event will take place Saturday afternoon. During the Parade of Flight, more than 180 planes will fly over San Diego Bay.

The Coast Guard will enforce a safety zone on San Diego Bay during the parade. A perimeter has been set up at the western end of Harbor Island, south to the North Island Naval Base.

Boaters will be able to view from the eastern end of Harbor Island to the G Street Pier.

The safety zone will be in effect from noon until 4 p.m.  The three-hour "Parade of Flight" will get underway at 1 p.m., with a flyover by the Blue Angels.

All the days festivities are free.
