A kayaker in his 20s was taken to the hospital after being found face down in the water near La Jolla Shores just before 7 a.m. Saturday.
San Diego Lifeguards pulled the man out and performed life-saving efforts on him.
He was taken to the Scripps La Jolla in unknown condition.
It’s unclear if the man had a medical emergency or an accident. Witnesses spotted the man in the water but didn’t see what happened.
Lifeguards said it is always better to kayak when lifeguard stations are open, which is at 9 a.m. at this time of year.
