iPads Stolen from Elementary School

Two classrooms were broken into overnight at Cardiff Elementary School

About a dozen iPads were stolen in an overnight burglary at Cardiff Elementary School, Encinitas deputies confirmed.

Officials responded to the school located at 1888 Montgomery Ave. in Cardiff at around 12:35 a.m. Sunday after the school’s alarms were activated.

When deputies arrived, they conducted a search of the entire campus with the help of Sheriff’s K-9s and SDPD officials.

During the search, deputies discovered the school’s perimeter fence had been tampered with and the windows of two classrooms had been broken.

Officials said suspected burglars had entered one of the classrooms, broken a lock on a storage cabinet and stolen approximately 12 iPad tablets.

No suspects were located on campus.

Deputies say the total loss of the school burglary is estimated at $6,360. The investigation is ongoing and the burglary suspects are still at large.
