Police said they believe a man in a van arrested Thursday committed a lewd act on a teenage girl and is also responsible for flashing more than a dozen people in the past few months.
The incident on Thursday occurred at about 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of 65th Street and Akins Avenue, authorities said. A 17-year-old girl was approached by a van, and the driver, who is in his 20s, asked her for directions, then exposed himself.
The teen ran home and called police, providing them with a detailed description that they were able to use to track down a light-blue 1992 Toyota Previa minivan.
Initially, detectives were not able to identify the man, who they said had a fake ID card, but on Friday they said he was Nestor Daniel Ortega, 21.
Ortega has been booked on two counts of indecent exposure.
