Deputies Stumble on Stolen Surfboards & Golf Clubs

A Craigslist ad led San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies to a home full of stolen items. Now, deputies are looking for the rightful owners.

More than 100 stolen items ranging from surfboards to golf clubs to a trombone were recovered by San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies thanks to one person who traced his stolen item to a Craigslist ad.

Deputies were called by a resident who found an online ad listing his stolen surfboard for sale.

Sgt. Rich Eaton said deputies called the person behind the post and arranged to purchase the board. Instead, Eaton said they found a house full of stolen items.

Deputies categorized then photographed the items. They then published the images to an online gallery so that owners could reclaim the property.

There are 134 items total including boogie boards, putters and golf bags.

Residents are encouraged to look through the items, note the photo number and then complete a form on the sheriff’s department website. A deputy will reach out to you.

If you have any information on the stolen property, call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 will be given for information that leads to a felony arrest.
