Celebrating March's 125 Trees in One Day Event, Council President Ben Hueso and guests will commemorate the event with a plaque on June 8, 2009.
The plaque will recognize the 125 Trees in One Day beautification project, as well as Cesar Chavez Service Club Members and Chavez's commitment to non-violence. Club members are elementary school students who were among the 100 volunteers that planted trees.
Students participate in a 10-month program designed to ensure Cesar Chavez's legacy of peaceful, innovative tactics for social change.
The memorial plaque will be placed among the 7 trees that were planted in front of King Chavez Academy.
