Car Fire Breaks Out in Southcrest, Block from Elementary School

Investigators were called to the scene of a car fully engulfed in flames Tuesday night in Southcrest, San Diego police (SDPD) said. 

The fire began 7:47 p.m. on S 40th Street and Boston Avenue, police and fire officials said.

The location is a block away from Cesar Chavez Elementary School in a neighborhood nestled between Interstate 5, Interstate 15 and Interstate 805. 

The Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) was called to the scene. 

At this point, investigators believe this was an arson.

There were no reported injuries.
