Officials are investigating a death at a rest area along Interstate 5 between San Diego and Orange counties.
California Highway Patrol, San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies and Camp Pendleton firefighters were called to the Aliso Creek rest stop on southbound side of I-5 just before 10:30 a.m.
Someone called 911 to report finding a person dead inside a red and white van. Officials say the reporting party went looking for an individual who had not arrived when they were expected.
The medical examiner's office removed the body from the scene and will work to identify the cause of death.
