A pair of visitors in a backyard of Carmel Valley home scared the owner but they turned out to be a pair of Bobcats playing in the yard.
Two Bobcats activated the Carmel Valley resident's home-security motion lights and could be seen jumping around playing with their dinner. The woman said cats left behind part of a rat carcass.
She said they were in their backyard for about three hours overnight.
California Department of Fish and Wildlife said Bobcats are native to the area and are not aggressive toward humans.
The cats are nocturnal and usually solitary, so it's likely the smaller bobcat was a juvenile with its mother.
