Where to Get Free Hepatitis A Virus Vaccine in San Diego County

Health officials say not everyone needs to be vaccinated

The City of San Diego has partnered with San Diego County to provide free vaccination clinics at public libraries.

The following occupational groups must be vaccinated: fire, emergency, law enforcement personnel, food handlers, health care personnel and professionals, service workers working directly with the homeless population, and individuals working directly in substance abuse treatment programs, and public transit workers.

Here is a list of dates, times and locations: 

β€’ Tuesday, Sept. 19 – 2 to 5 p.m. – San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd. 

β€’ Wednesday, Sept. 20 – 2 to 5 p.m. – San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd. 

β€’ Monday, Sept. 25 – 1 to 4 p.m. – Logan Heights Branch Library, 567 S. 28th St. 

β€’ Tuesday, Sept. 26 – noon to 2 p.m. – Skyline Hills Library, 7900 Paradise Valley Rd. 

β€’ Friday, Sept. 29 – 2 to 5 p.m. – Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library, 5148 Market St. 

β€’ Monday, Oct. 9 – 1 to 4 p.m. – Logan Heights Branch Library, 567 S. 28th St. 

β€’ Tuesday, Oct. 17 – 2 to 5 p.m. – San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd. 

β€’ Friday, Oct. 20 – 2 to 5 p.m. – Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library, 5148 Market St. 

β€’ Tuesday, Nov. 21 – 2 to 5 p.m. – San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd. 

β€’ Tuesday, Dec. 19 – 2 to 5 p.m. – San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd.

Since 2006, children have received the Hepatitis A vaccine in accordance with school immunization requirements.

The city is also partnering with the American Red Cross and the Downtown San Diego Partnership to offer free Hepatitis A vaccinations for at-risk populations on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Golden Hall on 202 C Street.

A member of the general population who is concerned has the right to pursue getting the vaccine from his or her own medical provider.
