Car Pinned Against Wall in Crash Near I-15/SR-163 Split

There were injuries reported but how many people were hurt and the extent of their injuries was not available

A crash near the Interstate 15 and State Route 163 split was causing significant backup in both northbound and southbound HOV lanes Wednesday morning.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) said a car became pinned between a box truck and a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) wall near Miramar Road at about 5:20 a.m. The details leading up to the crash were unclear.

Video of the scene showed a small SUV-type vehicle pressed up against the center divide, which can be moved by Caltrans officials but was bent out of shape due to the force of impact. A box truck had the vehicle pinned against the divide. 

There were injuries reported but how many people were hurt and the extent of their injuries was not available. An ambulance was en route to the scene.

Southbound and northbound HOV lanes were closed as crews responded to the crash. A SigAlert was issued at 6 a.m. lanes were still closed an hour later. The SigAlert was canceled at 9:20 a.m.
