Oceanside Man Arrested in Robbery Series

A man who is believed to be the suspect in a series of armed robberies at hotels in Oceanside and Carlsbad was arrested early Saturday.

Four hotels have been robbed since June and the most recent incident took place on August 24, said Oceanside police Captain Fred Armijo in a media release.

The suspect was identified by authorities as 23-year-old Franklin Gladney, of Oceanside.

Gladney was driving a black Ford Mustang when he was pulled over for a traffic stop just before 1 a.m. in the area of College Boulevard and Oceanside Boulevard, according the media release.

The officer conducting the stop matched Gladney to the description of suspect wanted for a robbery series, Armijo said.

Gladney’s car was also similar to the vehicle in which the suspect fled in during the most recent robbery.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed evidence connecting Gladney to the robberies and detectives found additional evidence linking him to the crime once a warrant was served on his home.

Gladney was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on multiple charges, including robbery, burglary, and other offenses.
