Killed By A Single Punch

The search for a killer extends to San Diego.

Sheila Hubbard only had one son, and he was the light of her life.

"Since he was a small boy he had a zest for life, he loved people," she said.

Clinton Joseph Hubbard, 27, was a successful commercial real estate broker in Orange County.  Last week, he was killed after attending a concert in Newport Beach.

It happened at Code Restaurant and Lounge early Thanksgiving morning.  Hubbard had gone to the restaurant to watch the band "Infected Mushroom."  After the show, a witness says Hubbard walked by a man and a woman who appeared to be arguing in the parking lot.

"The next thing he knew, he saw him (Hubbard) get punched and fall to the ground," Hubbard's sister Jessica Johnson said.

Family members say the single punch to Hubbard's head ruptured a blood vessel.

"He had blood coming out everywhere," Johnson said.

Hours later, Hubbard was declared brain dead. Two days later, he was taken off life support after doctors harvested his organs.

Investigators don't have a motive for the attack. Hubbard's family members don't believe the man who threw the punch meant to kill him.

"He probably doesn't realize that the punch ended up killing CJ," said Johnson.

They're hoping whoever killed Hubbard will turn himself in.

"He took my brother, he took my parent's son, he took so many people's best friend," Johnson said.

The search for the killer has extended to San Diego County. If you have any information call police.
